The story
The Story: In dedication to Jackson, who sadly passed away in 2020, this is a limited-edition blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sangiovese, made by the incredibly talented Gregorio from Il Civettaio.
Jackson was just 8 years old when he contracted a rare disease that occurs mostly in spaniels and after fighting hard for 10 days, the fight was too much for him.
Naming the business after him was the least I could ever have done for that dog but being able to celebrate his life with a beautiful wine reminds me of all the wonderful memories I have of him.
The Faithful Companion is a very easy drinking wine with great structure, soft and round with subtle cranberry and cherry notes. Aged for 2 years in 30HL oak barrels, on this small farm in the rolling hills of Maremma, Southern Tuscany.
Gregorio planted his vines back in the 1990s and specialises in Cabernet, Merlot and Sangiovese. He saw that the little micro-climate of Maremma would produce fantastic grapes and allow him to easily implement the organic practices that he believes will produce the best fruit and best preserve his land. Il Civettaio is certified organic and Greg’s philosophy is one of ‘drinkability’.
