We’re thrilled to say that we will be joining the Duck Pond Market family and selling our wines at their fantastic markets. Like us, the people behind the Duck Pond concept believe in championing sustainability, supporting small, independent businesses, and promoting artisan, quality products… so we think our organic, boutique wine will fit right alongside. New Stockists: Kiwi & Pomme
This is Kiwi & Pomme, a wonderful new fine food and drink specialist, based in Buckingham. They’ll be stocking our wine alongside a selection of artisan cheeses, charcuterie, foodie gifts, oils and dips. They open their doors this Friday 26th October; so if you are in the neighbourhood, drop in! We will be organising wine tastings – stay tuned for further announcements.
Duty In The U.K… What goes to the producers vs what goes to the Government…
Plenty of conversations have cropped up recently about the cost of wine, and how much goes straight to the government in taxes. (A staggering £3.33!!) We’ve been sharing this great article by Gavin Quinney, which makes for very sobering reading. It’s another reminder that your average cheap supermarket bottle of wine is no more than a sum of the glass bottle, its production and transport, government taxes and a bit of red or white liquid, masquerading as wine. When you strip all those costs off, there is no room left to support the producers, or artisan quality wine. That’s why we always ask, support independent businesses and #shoplocal 🍷 |
